Furniture Care

At Homemakers Furniture, we guarantee the quality, style and value of our products. Every piece of furniture offers durability, comfort and versatility to your home. Listed below are common characteristics and variations in furniture. Please review the following information and guidelines for proper care and maintenance for your new furniture.

ADJUSTABLE DOORS & FEET permit accommodations for floor, material variations. Wood expands and contracts with differences in temperature and moisture in the air, which may also affect the alignment.

AREA RUG MAINTENANCE will extend the life and beauty of your purchase. Rotate rugs periodically to avoid pattern wear and pile crushing. Cleaning stains immediately, vacuuming regularly and avoiding direct sunlight will prevent fading and will increase your rug's life span.

COMFORT WRINKLES are intentionally sewn into furniture so that seat cushions can adjust accordingly. These folds are designed to enhance the appearance and style of each piece of furniture.

DISTRESSED WOOD SURFACES enhance the personality and individual features of each piece of furniture. These surfaces may include holes, cracks, marks and notches in the wood.

FABRIC CHARACTERISTICS may take place in the appearance of upholstered furniture. These variations can occur in stitching, folds and tucks.

LEATHER CHARACTERISTICS add to the appearance and personality of each piece of furniture. Wrinkles and marks (bug bites, scars, brands, etc.) are trademark characteristics typical of genuine leather.

MAINTAIN CUSHIONS by fluffing cushions, pillow top seats and decorative pillows every week to preserve their fullness. Poly core pillows can be fluffed on a ‘no heat’ setting in a clothes dryer.

MATTRESS COMFORT IMPRESSIONS are normal and are caused by the mattress’ ability to conform to your body. Mattresses are made with body contouring foams that reduce pressure points. Comfort impressions up to 1½" deep are standard for manufacturers and are not considered defects. To help minimize comfort impressions, mattresses should be turned occasionally throughout their life.

MECHANICAL NOISES are typical with the use of reclining furniture. Changes may come and go with variations of temperature and moisture in the air.

PILLING is the formation of lint caused by friction and is a normal occurrence on fabric surfaces. Lint can be removed with a small fabric shaver as they appear.

REGULARLY VACUUM your fabric furniture and clean your leather furniture often to maintain its appearance.

VARIATIONS IN MARBLE & STONE in terms of color and pattern are due to natural development. These natural imperfections add to the beauty and personality of each piece and are not manufacturer defects.

VARIATIONS IN WOOD enhance the personality and beauty of the furniture piece. Color, patterns and other markings are determined by the type and porosity of the wood.
